چکیده

This paper presents a procedure developed to extract quantitative motion information from video recordings of neonatal seizures in the form of temporal motion strength signals. Temporal motion strength signals are obtained from a sequence of video frames by measuring the displacement areas of the infants’ moving body part(s) from frame to frame of the video sequence. The proposed motion segmentation procedure relies on the application of non-linear filtering, vector clustering, and morphological filtering to the differences between adjacent frames. The experiments indicate that temporal motion strength signals constitute a satisfactory representation of videotaped clinical events and may be used for automated seizure recognition. q 2005 Elsevier B.V. Improving the Extraction of Temporal Motion Strength Signals from Video Recordings of Neonatal Seizures

Automated processing and analysis of video recordings of neonatal seizures can generate novel methods for extracting quantitative information that is relevant only to the seizure [5], [6]. This information can be used to: 1) develop automated mechanisms capable of detecting the beginning of clinical seizures, 2) refine the characterization of repetitive motor behaviors, and 3) facilitate the di...

Extraction of Temporal Motor Activity Signals From Video Recordings of Neonatal Seizures By Improved Feature Tracking Methods Based on Translation Motion Models

This paper presents a new method for tracking features in video. This method estimates the displacement of a feature between two successive frames by minimizing an error function defined in terms of the feature intensities at these frames. The minimization problem is made analytically tractable by approximating the error function using a second-order Taylor expansion. The displacement between t...

Extraction of Temporal Motor Activity Signals From Video Recordings of Neonatal Seizures By Feature Tracking Methods Based on Deformable Motion Models

used to extract motion-related information from video recordings of neonatal seizures. This experimental outcome provided the motivation for the study outlined in this paper, which focused on the development of a working feature tracker based on an affine motion model. Abstract—This paper presents a new feature tracking method for video. This method estimates the displacement of a feature betwe...

Extraction of Temporal Motion Velocity Signals from Video Recordings of Neonatal Seizures by Optical Flow Methods

This paper presents a procedure developed to extract quantitative information from video recordings of neonatal seizures in the form of temporal motion velocity signals. These signals are obtained from the velocity fields computed for successive frames of the video recording by a variety of optical flow methods. The experimental results provide evidence that the motion velocity signals produced...
